Athletic U14s had a convincing home win in the second round of the County Cup with an 8-1 win over Margate Youth.
Phil THOMPSON opened the scoring in the first 2 minutes when his initial shot rebounded off the post for him to slot home at the second attempt.
A well timed pass from David Hart put THOMPSON in position to score his and Dover’s second.
Athletic went in 3-0 up at the break after an Ethan Mallery cross from the left was put into the net by a Margate defender.
Athletic continued to push in the second period and Margate’s keeper made some excellent saves.
Jack SAUNDERS scored Dover’s fourth following a run down the left wing, Saunders then turned provider from the corner flag for HART to put away after a goal mouth scramble.
A shot from Thompson was parried by the keeper to fall to Matt CHIVERS to score the sixth.
A corner from Hart was met by Harry MILES to head home and Athletics final goal came from Wes MAGGS.
Margate then scored a consolation goal. A good team performance from: Luke Hogben, Daniel Partridge, Wesley Maggs, Mitchell Foad, Joe Hammond, Matthew Chivers, Harry Miles, Rob Henry, Ethan Mallery, Philip Thompson, David Hart, Connor Miller and Jack Saunders
