PARKINSON: WE SHOULD HAVE WON

Dover drew 0-0 away at Southport on Saturday afternoon and Jack Parkinson believes Whites should have taken home all three points. ‘The first half was scrappy with few chances for both sides, but we dominated after the break and were camped in their half. We had lots of opportunites, but could not take any of them and the win was just not meant to be.’

Parkinson focused on the positives however. ‘It is a long way to go, so it was important we got some sort of result. That is seven games unbeaten now and another away game where we have created a lot of chances.

He also added, ‘With the opportunities to score we are creating and the quality of the Ricky Miller and Stefan Payne up front, we are going to give someone a pasting soon.’*Q1*

Jack also revealed there are no concerns about the side’s away form, having had no wins from the four trips away from Crabble this season. ‘Is is not something we have not thought about to be honest and in this league it is important to pick up what you can away and make your home a fortress.’

Whites face a trip to Gloucestershire next week to face Cheltenham, relegated from League two last season. ‘They lost for the first time yesterday’, said Jack, ‘so they will be looking to bounce back. They may be a big club, but we have a full week’s training so we can prepare properly for the game and I am confident we can get a result.
