PREVIEW: LEYTON ORIENT V WHITES

Athletic will be aiming to extend their unbeaten league run to ten matches when they visit Brisbane Road for the first time in a competitive fixture on Saturday.

And they travel to the capital to take on a side that have collected just three points from a possible 33.

Steve Davis, appointed as O’s head coach in the summer following their relegation from League Two, paid the price for his team’s poor form and was sacked earlier in the week.

But boss Chris Kinnear will still be wary of Whites latest opponents, who will be keen to impress the caretaker management team of Ross Embleton and Dean Brill.

One Dover player will be no stranger to his surroundings on the pitch this weekend.

Defender Connor Essam made 24 appearances for Orient during the 2015/16 season.

LEYTON ORIENT’S RECENT FORM

EBBSFLEET 2-1 LEYTON ORIENT

Orient’s winless league run extended to 11 matches following defeat in front of the BT Sport cameras on Saturday evening.

First half strikes from Andy Drury and Danny Kedwell put Daryl McMahon’s men in control, although James Dayton’s late consolation set up a tense finale.

An unmarked Drury fired Fleet in front on six minutes after collecting Luke Coulson’s pass.

And Kedwell doubled the lead with a bullet header from Myles Weston’s cross five minutes before the break.

Charlie Grainger denied Weston after the restart with a fine save and Dayton’s 25-yard stunner three minutes from time gave the visitors hope.

But Steve Davis’ side were unable to complete the comeback and the result leaves Orient three points above the bottom four.

DOVER COLOURS

For travelling fans wanting to wear the same shirts as the players, captain Mitch Brundle and his teammates will be wearing their blue ones.
