PREVIEW: WHITES V MAIDENHEAD

  1. Dover will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways following their midweek FA Cup exit away at Bromley when they tackle Maidenhead at Crabble on Saturday.

Whites go into the game unbeaten in five league matches and have not conceded in their last three matches at home.

Alan Devonshire’s United have adjusted well to life in the National League after winning promotion from the National South, sitting 12th in the standings with 22 points.

However, the Magpies have suffered defeat in their last two away games, losing 2-0 at Chester and 4-0 at Torquay.

Former Dover winger Moses Emmanuel joined Maidenhead on a two-month loan earlier this week.

The Magpies left it late to win their FA Cup fourth round qualifier.

Ryan Upward run onto Jake Hyde’s flick-on and smashed home an injury-time winner to confirm his side’s spot in the first round proper.

United had earlier taken the lead on 23 minutes thanks to Sam Barratt’s powerful left-footed drive and home goalie Carl Pentney preserved the lead with a point-blank save from Theo Lewis’ header.

Havant levelled four minutes after the break thanks to Jason Prior.

The striker pounced on a poor clearance by Max Kilman to level the scores following a volleyed effort from Jordan Rose

But Upward had the final say to set up a first round clash away at Coventry City.

PREVIOUS MEETING

15/03/14: MAIDENHEAD 1-2 DOVER

Ricky Modeste curled home a brilliant last-minute winner as Whites took all three points at York Road.

The substitute cut inside Leon Soloman and fired in from the edge of the box to inflict a fourth consecutive home defeat on United.

Tom Murphy skipped away from Mark Nisbet to slot past home stopper Yannick Nlate on eight minutes, but Adrian Clifton levelled moments later for the Magpies.

The midfielder header Brett Longden’s deep cross past keeper Mitch Walker to net his second goal in as many games.

Richard Pacquette thumped a second-half effort just wide for the hosts, but it was Modeste who had the final say with a stunning late strike.
