PREVIEW: WHITES V WREXHAM

Crabble will host the opening game of a National League season for the first time in four years when when Wrexham visit Kent on Saturday afternoon.

And Chris Kinnear’s men will be aiming to maintain an impressive stat against the North Wales side.

Athletic are yet to lose in eight previous meetings with The Dragons, winning four and drawing four.

However, it’s been summer of change for Wrexham with former Hull, Bolton and Wolves defender Sam Ricketts announced as the clubs new manager in May, replacing previous boss Dean Keates, who left to join Walsall as boss in March.

Ricketts, who has 52 international caps for Wales, has signed eight new players ahead of the curtain raiser.

WHAT THE GAFFERS SAY

DOVER BOSS CHRIS KINNEAR

‘They are one of those massive clubs that have been in the Football League and probably feel they have been at this level for too long.  They have bought a new manger in and invested in a lot of players in the summer.

‘They are competitive every year and will want to go one better this season, but so do we and we won’t be any less inspired to do well.’

WREXHAM BOSS SAM RICKETTS

‘We are getting there.  The biggest thing for me is to understand what my players can and cannot do and what makes our team tick.  We will look this week at what Dover’s strengths and weaknesses are and devise a game plan to help the players.’

WREXHAM PLAYER TO WATCH

Striker Mike Fondop-Talom has had an impressive pre-season for his new club.  The former Guiseley and FC Halifax Town striker has netted five times in six pre-season games.
