After the euphoria of Saturday's last gasp Conference victory against Farnborough in the Conference, Dover were brought back down to earth by local rivals Folkestone Invicta at Cheriton Road on Tuesday evening. A mixture of first-team regulars and young reserve players took on a full-strength Invicta side and came off second best.

Folkestone, fielding several ex-Whites including Scott Daniels, James Virgo, Lee McRobert and Nicky Dent, capitalised on defensive mistakes and disjointed play to score three times.

Dover were without Leon Kelly, Keith Scott, Jimmy Aggrey, Matt Carruthers, Kevin Seabury and Darren Davies from Saturday's team. England Under 18s player Jamie Thornby made his first appearance in the first team and his reserves team-mates Dave Bathgate and Adam Govey also came into the side.

James Dryden opened the scoring for the home side in the 26th minute and it stayed 1-0 until half-time.

Henry doubled Folkestone's advantage in the 53rd minute and Dryden grabbed his second in the final minute to seal a deserved win.

In the second half reserve/youth players Tim Austin, Tom Hickman, James Farrier and Chris Wright were all given a taste of first-team action.
