SUPPORTERS CLUB SCOUT TRIP

Whites add Wyscout to its armoury courtesy of the Supporters Club.

This week the football club received the welcomed news that the DASC will purchase the scouting tool Wyscout for the coming season. For anyone not familiar with the product, it is the worlds largest football library of video and data. Every football club in the world that films their match are obliged to provide the footage for teams to run analysis over. It is an essential tool at this level for a club with little to no scouting network. It can help scout players and opposition data as well as reviewing your own performances.

They offer:

  • Worldwide coverage, play by play data on more than 600 competitions globally, as no one else in the market.
  • A detailed analysis on 2.000 events per match delivered by our experts.
  • Millions of plays, from the Big Five to the most promising youth tournaments all over the world

We have a team of full-time video analysts who work exclusively with Wyscout, so that we’re not wasting travel time, airfares, hotels. We can see a lot of good or bad attributes in the players from the Wyscout footage’ – John Marshall, Head of Recruitment, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kirsty Noble from DASC said ‘The Supporters Club is delighted to purchase the Wyscout product, to help Mitch Brundle prepare the team in the best way possible. There is much more the Supporters Club can do, but we need more members, to raise more funds, in order to make more donations. Please support the Football Club by becoming a member of the Supporters Club. We are speaking with Mr Parmenter, Chairman of Dover Athletic FC, about further donations, but we can only do this with the support of our fans.

There will be a presentation of a cheque in the Centre Spot at 1.15pm. This will be presented by the Supporters Club to both the Chairman, Jim Parmenter and manager, Mitch Brundle.

There will be a fund raising bucket in the Centre Spot on Saturday to help replenish Supporters’ Club funds, there will be membership forms available to collect. Alternatively, you can download a membership form from the top of the Supporters Club website which is www.dafcsc.co.uk.

A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE COMMUNITY TEAM

Thank you to those of you for attending our first community day of the 2023/24 season. Although not quite the huge event I would have liked to have run, but with 3 weeks to put it together, I feel like the day was a success, even with the Great British Summer having other ideas!

A big thank you goes out to my team of volunteers, for handing out the giveaway bags and balloons as well as tirelessly running the various raffles and children’s tombola, both of which raised funds which will be used to continue our work within the community over the coming season.

The inflatable football pitch, provided and staffed by Holly and Lou at the Football Fun Factory, proved popular and a huge success. Thank you, Holly and Lou, for coming along, we hope to see you again at future events.

The amazingly talented Tracey was providing non-stop face painting for the children and even some of the adults were spotted showing off their painted faces too. Thank you Tracey for all of your hard work.

I was hugely grateful of the generosity shown from local pubs, The Old Endeavour and The Red Lion, for supporting the day with contributions to the Bucket of Booze raffle, alongside donations from supporters of the club.

The re-appearance of Captain Crab was a delight to see as he made his way around the ground posing for photos. I think we need to see Captain Crab more often, however, this is not always possible due to staffing. So, if anyone would like to offer themselves as a potential Captain Crab contender, please drop me an email.

Local band Turmoil played a sensational set in the Centre Spot bar and we hope to see them again soon at Crabble.

Over the coming weeks, we look forward to supporting LDC Care with their activities day up on the Community Training Pitch, as well as being on the lookout for news that the reading packs we have sponsored have been found. The initiative is to keep children reading over the summer holidays and has been organised by the Secret Garden Book Shop. We wish Caroline every success with this project and are glad to have helped give something back to the children of Dover.

With the season almost upon us, work is going into giving your match day experience a more community feel. I have plenty of ideas but am always happy to hear your thoughts. You are after all the club’s community. Any ideas and suggestions can be sent to me directly on vikki.pawley@doverathletic.com

Existing projects currently running are the Happy Feet football sessions, which run every Saturday morning on the Community Training Pitch. Ages 5-10 years play from 9am-10am and ages 11-15 years play from 10.15am-11.15am. Sessions cost £4 per child per session.

On a Sunday morning, Walking Football sessions are held from 10am-11am, up on the Community Training Pitch. These sessions are anyone aged 45 and over. Sessions cost £4.

I will update you all over the next few weeks with upcoming events and look forward to seeing and talking you on match days.

Vikki

COMMUNITY DAY SUCCESS

We hold our first community day of the season.

With the season fast approaching, we held our first community day of the year. There were prizes to win in the children’s tombola as well as a meat raffle, bucket of booze and a chance to win a mascot for a match day. Hopefully some of you have woken up as winners this morning. The first team were then put through their paces with an open training session which consisted of a period of keep ball followed by a short match, with the yellows defeating the blues 2-0.

Captain crab was on hand to make sure that everything ran smoothly before the band Turmoil sung us out with a cracking selection of tunes. It was a fantastic day and one that will be repeated midway through the campaign.

We would like to thank all of you that volunteered, sponsored and gifted towards our day and well done to our community team on a day well done, despite the rain.

Raffle winners:

Shirt – Emma Cook

Meat – Kay Holness

Bucket of Booze x 2 – Paula Lewis & Val McLester

Match Day Mascot – Jamie Yelverton

There is still time to get your season ticket by clicking HERE.

We have a game at Deal Town on Tuesday night followed by our final match at home against Ashford United next Saturday before the season opener with Torquay United on the 5th August. It’s nearly time to get down to business and you don’t want to miss out.
