TYNE DISAPPOINTED BY CONTRACT DECISION

Gate Planning Crabble Raid

According to this week’s local papers, newly-promoted Margate are planning to try to lure some of Dover’s star players to Hartsdown. Ex-Whites manager Chris Kinnear is reportedly interested in defensive duo Lee Shearer and Jake Leberl.

Dover boss Bill Williams has stated that neither are for sale as both are under contract. Forward Steve Brown, who was approached by Margate earlier in the season, could be on his way up the East Kent coast as he seems certain to leave Crabble in the summer. The Hartsdown club will face stiff competition for his signature with FA Trophy finalists Canvey Island and at least one Football League side among six clubs interested in the former Lincoln and Macclesfield player.

Midfielder Dave Clarke is also likely to have moved on by the start of next season. Meanwhile, Bill Williams has secured the services of one new player and is confident of agreeing deals for two more.
